EUSportDev
European Dimension in Sport for Development and Peace (EUSportDev)
Funded by Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules programme.
Summary of the EUSportDev project:
The main goal of the project is the creation, implementation and validation of a new module for university students at the Palacký
University Olomouc, Czech Republic. The module focuses on theoretical and practical education in the field of sport for development
(SDP) and its European dimension and the role the SDP plays in the EU and other European countries. The module will be implemented
by a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Physical Education and the Faculty of Science in coordination with experts from the NGO
sector. The Erasmus funds will support the preparation of the module’s curriculum, its teaching in three consecutive academic years
and the preparation of a study guide for students. The length of the module is one semester. It includes theoretical seminars taught
at the faculties and visits in the field (programmes using sports as a social tool and other SDP organisations). The evaluated module
will be ready to be regularly taught after the project is finished. Furthermore, the project includes research analysing the role of SDP
in policy and strategical documents and selected European countries together with its sources of funding and the organisation of three
round tables hosting discussions about the perspectives of SDP programmes, their links to EU politics, strategies and sources of funding
with Czech stakeholders including academics, NGO professionals, policymakers, public administration officials and sports organisations
representatives.
